Declamation contest on Ozone layer at Golden Bells

Environment Protection Society, SAS Nagar, today organised declamation contest on depleting effects of ozone layer in Golden Bells Public School, Sector-77, Mohali.

Sh. S. R. Chaudhari was the chief guest on the occasion. Col. C.S. Bawa (Retd.)
presided over the function.
Teams from different schools took part in this declamation contest. The topic was the “Ozone layer is depleting. Let us join hands to protect it”. All children spoke very well on the topic. They expressed their views on this alarming situation which is going to affect whole world very soon.
Tree saplings of medicinal values and fruits were planted by Environment Protection Society in the school premises.

Second academic session of B.Ed started at Aryans

Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh holds its Convocation at PHD Chamber, Sector-31, Chandigarh, today to honor the Aryans Pass Outs with their Academic Degrees. Dr. Buta Singh, Dean Academics, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman Aryans Group presided over the event. Around 100 MBA (2008-10) & BCA (2007-10) students of Aryans were awarded degrees.
The convocation started with lightening of the lamp followed by the prayer. Dr. Parveen Kataria, Director General, Aryans Group presented the annual report of college & highlighted the vision of the institute for future. She read out the achievements of the college highlighting the quality education & placements by various top companies.

Canara Bank upset holders ONGC in Atray Trophy

Canara Bank of  Bangalore upset defending champions Oil and Natural Gas Corporation by four wickets  in the Pearls  18th All-India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament  at St. John's School in Sector 26 here today and garnered five points including a bonus.
Winning the toss ONGC opted to bat.  They lost their opener Tanmay Srivastava with 10 runs on the board as Tanmay Srivastav was caught by Bharath off Ayappa for 3. Thereafter Sandeep Sharma and Mohit Sharma got together and stitched a 147 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket in 28 overs. Mohit Sharma was the first to go when he was castled by Raghu for 85 off 94 balls inclusive of 9x4s and 2 huge sixes.
Sandeep Sharma also left at the same score when he was snapped by Mansoor Ali Khan of his own bowling for a well made 59 off 83 balls with 4 boundaries and two sixes. Thereafter it was regular procession to and fro from the pavilion and the ONGC innings terminated at 221with the last man getting run out on the last ball. Ayappa  (3 for 37,) M.Ali Khan (3 for 40) and former Test star Sunil Joshi (2 for 36) were the main wicket takers for Canara Bank.
 Replying Canara Bank cantered to 225 for 6 in 38 overs to beat ONGC by 4 wickets and collect 5 points including a bonus. They were well served by S.Sri Ram  (73, 3x4s , 1x6,) Kunal Kapoor (48 , 3x4s) and Thalayavan (42, 3x4s)  . For MRF Ankit Rajput (4 for 49) and Balwinder Sandhu (2 for 55) were the main wicket takers for IOC.  Sriram and Kunal Kapoor stitched a 98 runs partner ship for the 3rd wicket.
Replying Indian Oil Corporation were bowled out for 259 in 48.5 overs.  Paresh Patel (74, 8x4s, 1x6), Ravikant Shukla (69, 3x4s)  and Mithun Berala 49 (8x4s, 1x6) the principal run getters for IOC.  Paresh and Mithun put on 94 runs for the 1st wicket and at one stage IOC were happily placed at 209 for 3 and at this stage MRF Skipper introduced his 7th bowler Sunny Kumar Singh who caused IOC collapse by capturing 5 wickets for 15 and hurtling down IOC to a seven- run defeat. Batting first PCA Colts scored 329 for 5 in 50 overs; this included 44 penalty runs awarded because of the slow over rate of LIC Bowlers.  Gurkirat Man smashed  101 runs unbeaten off 70 balls studded with 11 boundaries and two sixes while Shiv Love hit an enterprising 84 off 115 balls with 5 fours and one six. Punjab CM Badal joins Modi's Sadbhavna Mission

          Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today joined here the ‘Sadbhavana Mission’ launched by his counterpart in Gujarat Mr. Narendra Modi to strengthen the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood.

Shivalik Public School and Mohali Public School champs

ACE organises industrial visit for students

The students visited various departments of the Alcon Wire and Cables Industry, Rajpura including Manufacturing, Marketing, Human Resources, Research & Development and Finance. The purpose of the visit was to make students aware of the various practical manufacturing aspects.
Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Marketing Manager and Mr. Satinder Sharma, Technical Manager interacted with the students & gave them in depth insight of the working of the company. Golden Bells celebrate Teacher's Day

Since 1962, Schools have been celebrating Teacher’s Day on September 5. The day commemorates the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philosopher and a teacher par excellence.
