1,08,000 to appear in JET test on May 19

 Punjab State Board of Technical Education will be conducting JET 2012 on  May 19 , 2012 (Saturday) from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. in 434 examination centers.
Disclosing this a Punjab Government spokesperson said that a meeting to review the arrangement of JET 2012 was held under the chairmanship of the Secretary of the Board wherein all the District Education Officer, Principals of all affiliated polytechnics and incharges of all the Examination centers participated.
The spokesperson said that All the JET Admit Cards/ Roll number of more than 1, 08, 000 candidates have been dispatched by the Board. Those candidates who have not received the Roll Number by post can download Admit Card/ Roll numbers from the Boards website: www.punjabteched.net/www.punjabteched.com
The result of JET 2012 will be declared in the first week of June 2012.  More than 60,000 seats are available in 29 diploma course in 130 affiliated polytechnic colleges.
The spokesperson said that 2500 seats are reserved under fee waiver scheme ( Rs 22,000 exempted from Rs.27,625 Annual Fee)  for economical weaker section whose family income is less than 4.5 lakhs.  All the SC students whose family income is less than 2 .5 lakhs have to pay Rs. 1100/- only for three yeas as tuition fee.

Seminar on Research in Nursing held

A seminar-cum-workshop on `Research Designs-Enhancements in Nursing Research’ was today held at Khalsa College of Nursing where the budding nursing students were asked to apprise themselves with the latest developments and ongoing research in the Profession. Principal of College, Dr. Neelam Hans stated that the profession of Nursing had `social service’ as an inherent character and the students must work honestly for the cause of making the society disease-free and treat the patients with utmost care and patience. Wheat procurement in Punjab touches 103 lahh tons

 Wheat procurement by State Government Agencies touched 102.19 lakh tons in Punjab, crossing the magical figure of 100 lakh tons as procurement in 1750 purchase centers picked up.
 According to an official spokesman procurement till Thursday evening was about 6 lakh tons more than last year as it was 10219702 tons. The spokesman said that most of the procurement was by the official agencies as they have procured 10213304 tons whereas traders have only picked-up 1583 tons. Meanwhile, the state agencies have also starting procuring wheat for state food as on Thursday 4815 tonnes were procured in this pool. Till May 3, Punsup had procured 2349022 tons (22.99%) whereas MARKFED procured 2283263 tons (22.34%). PUNGRAIN procured 1707381 tons (16.71%), PAIC  had procured 1182317 tons (11.57%) whereas PSWC was able to procure 1167866 tons (11.43 %) of wheat.
 The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 1523455 tons (14.91%). 
 The spokesman added that District Sangrur with 1110120  tons of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Patiala with 990598 tons of procurement was at second slot and district Ludhiana with 881666  tons of procurement ranked at third position.       
The State Government has set up more than 1750 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of wheat, the spokesman added.

Punjab to assimilate positive trends of American education system: Maluka

Punjab has started special initiative to revamp the educational system by incorporating the positive trends of education system of developed countries. It was disclosed by Mr. Sikandar Singh Maluka, Education Minister of Punjab.
In a communiqué released to the media, he said that a high level delegation of education ministers of different states visited United States of America to critically examine the education system of that country with the motive to incorporate positive trends of American education system. He said that this visit was conducted under the directives of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Department of Higher Education.
Mr. Maluka further added that the news appeared in some sections of the media about the foreign holidays of the minister is totally baseless. He said that the motive behind these trips is to study the prevalent education system and to assimilate the positive trends of the education system of that country into our education system.

Mock interview to help Punjab Civil Services aspirants
