The Governor of Haryana, Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, was ‘At Home’ with distinguished citizens of Punjab and Chandigarh on the lush green lawns of Punjab Raj Bhawan.
The invitees from different walks of life started converging on Punjab Raj Bhavan before the start of the ceremony to greet the Governor. The pathway of Punjab Raj Bhavan was tastefully decorated to receive the distinguished guests. The ‘At Home’ function began as the Punjab police band played the National Anthem.
Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal was the first to greet the Governor. Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr. Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar, Mr. Justice S.S. Saron, Mr. Justice Hemant Gupta, Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Mr. Anil Vij, Health Minister, Haryana, Punjab Chief Secretary, Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Lt. Gen. K.J. Singh, Goc-in-C, Western Command, Mr. Sumedh Singh Saini, DGP, Punjab, Mr. Y.P. Single, DGP, Haryana, Mrs. Marie Josee Charbonneau, Consulate General of Canada, Mr. Vijay Kumar Dev, Adviser to Administrator, Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mayor, Mr. Rajiv Sharma, Election Commissioner, Haryana also greeted the Governor.
Senior defence, civil and police officers of Punjab, Chandigarh Administration and Haryana were also present at the function. Office bearers of all the political parties greeted the Governor on the occasion.
The Punjab Governor, Prof. Solanki intermingled with the august gathering. He interacted with the freedom fighters, serving and retired army officers on this special day. The Governor said that the nation was proud of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters in the freedom struggle.
Progressive farmers from different parts of both the States came in strength to greet the Governor on this happy occasion.
