Aryans Business School (ABS) organized a Seminar on “Emerging Challenges in Global Business” in the college campus at Vill. Nepra (Banur), Chandigarh-Patiala Highway, Near Chandigarh. Mr. Kamal Singh, Director-CMD, All India Management association (AIMA), New Delhi was the keynote speaker of the event. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges (AGC) & President, Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) presided over the function.

The speaker enlightened the students on the changing business scenario. Mr. Singh opined that business has become extremely challenging due to certain global developments such as entry of new emerging economies, changing consumer trends worldwide, technological advancements, and fast infrastructural & communication developments.  

These global challenges have resulted into new business environment and the implementation of new strategies in different business areas worldwide such as mergers, acquisitions, takeovers, joint ventures, diversifications etc.  Mr. Singh stressed that the key idea for the industry, is to understand and put forth the undiscovered challenges and develop strategies to combat these. The Global meltdown would require a new focus and dimension to our curriculum and financial strengths.

While addressing students he also highlighted the leadership qualities like passion to win, flexibility, efficiency, quality etc. being looked for in today’s global scenario. He cited examples of eminent personalities like Mr. B.M. Munjal (Chairman, Hero Group), Mr. C K Ranganathan (CMD, Cavin kare) and Mr. Ratan N Tata (Chairman, Tata Group) who emerged as efficient leaders in their respective disciplines.

Badal gives approval to fill all vacant posts of teachers/lecturers on regular basis

       Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave in principle approval to fill all the vacant posts of the teachers in schools and lecturers in the colleges on regular basis to ensure smooth
functioning of these government educational institutions in the state.
       Presiding over a review meeting of school and higher education here at Chief Minister’s Office this morning, Mr. Badal directed the Principal Secretary Higher Education and Secretary School Education to
immediately initiate the process of recruitment so that these teachers could be appointed at the earliest.  He called upon the officers to ensure the recruitment process in a transparent and fair manner to attract the best available talent from the open market to achieve high standards of education.
 Mr. Badal also asked the Secretary School education to look into the viability of establishing the state level teachers’ recruitment board for the selection of teachers in the state to cope up the enormous task of recruiting almost 10000 to 12000 teachers, who retire every year.   The Chief Minister further asked
the school and higher education departments that the recruitment and promotions of the teachers should be regularly done every year so that no vacancy was kept pending.
       The Chief Minister also declared that the year 2012 and 2013 would be exclusively devoted to the overall development of government schools and higher institutions infrastructure equipped with well trained and highly qualified human resources to emerge Punjab as a front runner state on the educational front in the country.
       Mr. Badal also directed the Secretary School Education to immediately done away with the prevalent practice of deputation of teachers from one school to another.  He also gave go ahead to the village
panchayats to spend money on the repair and upkeep of schools, which would now be a fit charge on the funds of panchayats.
       The Chief Minister also directed that the 25% of the discretionary grants placed at the disposal of ministers must be utilized for the upgradation of infrastructure in the government schools.
       Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also asked the (DPI Colleges) to fill all the vacant posts of Principals in the colleges at the earliest to ensure their proper functioning.  He also directed the Principal
Secretary Higher Education to chalk out a detailed action program in consultation with the Principals to upgrade the infrastructure and equipment in all the Govt. colleges and submit a detailed report
within a fortnight.  The Chief Minister also asked the higher education department to prepare a comprehensive proposal for seeking requisite funds from governemnt for the development of colleges in a
holistic manner.
       The Chief Minister also decided to affect the transfers of teachers in all the government schools from April 10 to May 10 so that all the teachers were in place at the new stations well before the start of
new academic session 2012-13.  With a view to ensuring continuity of the teachers till the completion of academic session, the Chief Minister also decided to retire them only twice a year i.e. March 31
and September 30 irrespective of their date of superannuation.
       The Chief Minister also agreed to the proposal of school education department to only allow three months ex-India leave to the teachers subject to the approval of administrative secretary and leave period
exceeding three months would now be approved in ‘rarest of the rare cases’ at the level of Chief Minister.  It was informed in the meeting that the foreign leave was blatantly misused by the teachers thereby
hampering the school education to a great extent.
       Mr. Badal also asked the Education Minister Mr. Sikandar Singh Malooka and Rural Development & Panchayats Minister Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra to work in tandem to evolve a strategy to bring overall
improvement in the system of school education through synergy in the schools under the control of Departments of School Education and Rural Development & Panchayats.  He also stressed the need to upgrade the infrastructure equipment and human resources in all the schools be it primary, upper primary, high and senior secondary to impart the best education to the students because the school education was a gateway to the higher education.
 He also asked the school education department to put up a detailed proposal for the upgradation of upper primary schools from primary, upper primary to high and high to senior secondary as per the norms under Right to Education Act.  He further said that requisite land for the upgradation of these schools would be
provided by the state government.
       The Chief Minister also gave nod to re-constitute the school management committees which were primarily entrusted with the task of running affairs of the schools on day to day basis.  The new
committees to be re-constituted would now comprise of 13 members; amongst them 9 would be from parents of the students besides a sarpanch, a panch, a social worker and a teacher.
       The Chief Minister also asked the officers of the School and Higher Education departments to personally visit the schools and colleges to interact with the Principals and staff to apprise themselves with the short comings in these institutions and to rectify them in an effective manner according to their felt needs.  He also advised the Secretaries to undertake extensive field visits to acquaint themselves with the current status of the educational institution and also to interact with the staff and students in order to get proper feedback. He called upon the officers to work with utmost dedication, sincerity and professional commitments to transform the education system where it was affected by certain ills which could be easily mitigated.

Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) in association with Aryans Group of Colleges (AGC) organized a Book Launch of “And the Lion Smiled at the Rabbit- Manage Emotions to Win” written by Rashmi Dutt on today at PHD Chamber here.

Renowned Author and Additional Transport Commissioner, Haryana, Vivek Atray was the chief guest. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group and President, CMA presided over the event. PHD Chamber Regional Director Dalip Sharma was the guest of honour .

Appreciating the content of the book Mr. Vivek Atray said that in the book the author had tried to provide simple and clear solution to the nagging issues that young professionals face in day to day life which includes hard negotiations, office-politics or never-ending deadlines. The book tells how one can change the critical situation just by managing his emotions, added Mr. Atray.

Mrs. Sangeet Grover, Management Trainee & Pilot and Miss Anna Korte, Rotary, Germany were the main speakers on the occasion. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group, presided over the workshop.

While addressing the students, Mrs. Sangeet Grover said that thinking out of the box means leaving behind frustration, anger, stress, fear  being creative and manifesting in a reality of infinite possibilities It is never easy to 'think outside the box,' nor it is reflection of one's intelligence.

She further added that doing something out of the world requires knowledge and presence of mind. Later she conducted a very interesting question answer session in which all students took part enthusiastically .She also encouraged them to start working on their personality.

Miss Anna Korte shared her views on ‘Different Perceptive  for pursuing graduation’, during the time of studies students are so much involved in their books that they get very less time to think about the career they should opt for. They should take some gap in between and have a thorough thinking about their careers.

Dr.Anshu Kataria emphasized that the need to think ‘out of the box’ and to be unconstrained by negotiation mandates in order to explore new ideas and concepts that may contribute to the strengthening of overall personality.

ABC organises Ad-Mad Show for students

Hemant, Sukantano, Deepak and Vikas won first position in the Ad-Mad Show organised by Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh to identify the creative potential of students at village  Nepra (Banur), Chandigarh-Patiala Highway, near Chandigarh. The show is an event to teach the students about the selling and marketing skills to sell the product in the tough environment.

Harpreet and Sumit were the first runners-up and Avneet, Pawan and Faaiz finished second runners-up. Ten teams participated in the  show

 The students showed their talent and creativity, innovation, and business plan for creating an advertisement. Punjab Govt releases 8 LoI of industrial porjects

 The newly appointed Punjab Industry & Commerce Minister Mr. Anil Joshi started his first day in the office by ordering the release of 8 Letter-of-Intents of Industrial Projects with combined cost of Rs 2692 crore besides handing over first letter of intent to M/s Penguin Buildtech Pvt. Ltd for Rs 200 crore project to be set-up in holy city Amritsar.

          Addressing the officers in Udyog Bhawan after assuming office in the presence of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal , Mr. Anil Joshi said that industry department has to work collectively as a team to give an impetus to industrialization to accelerate the industrial growth on the pattern of Gujarat. The other Letter-of-Intents approved in the meeting mega projects including M/s Nectar Life Science, District Mohali with an estimated cost of Rs.200 crore, M/s Vardhman Special Steel, Ludhiana (estimated cost Rs.134.97 crore), M/s SEL Textile, District Muktsar   (estimated cost Rs.1485 crore), M/s Sportking, District Bathinda (estimated cost Rs.303 crore), M/s Supreme Tex Mart, District Ludhiana      (estimated cost Rs.103.25 crore), M/s Satluj Spintex, District Mansa (estimated cost Rs.121 crore) and M/s Sharmanji Textile, District Ludhiana with an estimated cost of Rs.144.82 crore. 7500 register for Placement Fest by Technical Education Board Punjab

With Mahindra Satyam and TVS Motors already recruiting more than 50 students in just two days at the Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training (PSBTE&IT)-backed Punjab Placement Fest 2012 at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Gharuan, interest among polytechnic and ITI students across Punjab has risen even further as registrations for the month-long fest crossed 7,500  today.

Even the students from premiere polytechnic institutions like: Thapar Polytechnic, GNE Polytechnic, Mehar Chand Polytechnic, Jalandhar, Baba Banda Singh Bahadhur Polytechnic, Fatehgarh have already registered to participated in the fest.

Aimed at generating maximum placements for nearly 60,000 polytechnic diploma holders and ITI trained students passing-out this year in Punjab, the Punjab Placement Fest is now set to welcome Bajaj Motors, Swaraj Mazda, Groz Beckert Asia, Japanese firm Takata India, Tata Motors, DCM, Dada Motors, Bhagat Volvo, Solitaire Infosys and many others. In all, more than 25 companies are participating in the job fest.

While a large number of students from distant towns are personally visiting CGC campus at Gharuan, the Chandigarh Polytechnic College principal Gurmeet Singh Swag has advised passing out batch students of all colleges to simply register themselves for the Punjab Placement Fest at www.cgc.edu.in. “Once the students register themselves, the shortlisted students will be automatically called for recruitment process,” he said.

Alternatively, students can also register for the fest by visiting the website of Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training (PSBTE&IT), www.punjabteched.com. Students from all streams, including computers, IT, civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics are being considered by various companies, depending on their core areas and industry needs.

Mahindra Satyam, which alone recruited 22 students, has offered them a package of nearly Rs 2 lakh. TVS Motors has designed its package for a three-year initial bundle spread over Rs 1.80 lakh to Rs 2.80 lakh per year.

Mohali Industries Association president KS Mahal, who highly appreciated the collaboration between the Govt sector PSU and CGC, said his Association too will be recruiting talent from the campus for which circular has been mailed to all members. “The industry is in dire need of skilled hands and a placement fest like this helps in bridging the gap between the right talent and the right employer,” he said.

CGC Chairman Satnam Singh Sandhu said the entire effort was triggered by the realisation that polytechnic colleges and ITIs in Punjab were churning out a lot of good talent but the emphasis on placements was lacking. “While Punjab still needs to expand its industrial base to ensure jobs to all polytechnic and ITI pass outs, there is no reason why our students should not benefit from vacancies available with MNCs and top Indian brands,” he said.

CGC President Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal said the group is committed to ensure that placements remain the focus of studies. “Our youth want jobs, and Punjab cannot progress if we let the gap between industry and polytechnic or engineering colleges to remain,” he said.
