By Punjabnewswire4u
BEGOWAL (KAPURTHALA), JUNE 3
Holding the Congress party squarely responsible for the plight of the country, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today exhorted the people to teach the Congress party a lesson by routing it from the state in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing the mammoth gathering here at function organized to mark the death anniversary of Sant Baba Prem Singh Ji Muraalewale, the Chief Minister said that Congress, which had ruled the country for more than six decades was totally responsible for the social maladies like poverty, inflation, corruption, illiteracy and others which were being confronted by the country today, was on the merge of collapse. He said that the people must use their ballot for changing the fate of the country by ousting the Congress from power at centre thereby paving the way for the formation of NDA government. Thanking the people for reposing their faith in the policies of the SAD-BJP alliance time and again, Mr. Badal said that it was the high time that the Congress led UPA government must be shown the door for their sins.
Earlier talking to the media persons at the residence of MLA Bibi Jagir Kaur, the Chief Minister categorically said that Congress led UPA government has failed on all the fronts adding that due to its inefficiency the threat of internal and external aggression was looming large on the country. He pointed out that the faulty policies of the Union government were totally responsible for the growth of the menace of Naxalism in the country which has turned into a major threat for the sovereignty of the country.
Terming the Congress party as a ‘spent force’, the Chief Minister said that the crushing defeat of the party in the recently held polls of Zila Parishad and Block Samitis reflected that the people of Punjab have no faith in its policies and programs. He said that the Congress party has lost in its all the bastions during these polls and it was not even able to open its account in the home turfs of state Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa and former Chief Minister Mrs. Rajinder Kaur Bhattal. Mr. Badal attributed the spectacular win of the alliance in these polls to the development oriented and pro-people policies of their government.
Training his guns against the Congress leaders, the Chief Minister said that they were habitual of taking the help of political gimmicks to mislead the people, when out of the power. He said that the recent protest lodged by CWC Member Jagmeet Singh Brar was one of such act which was totally unwarranted and irrational. Mr. Badal said that the senior Congress leader was not accompanied by even a single resident of Mana or Badal village during his protest, which reflects that people do not have trust on them.
Making a scathing attack on the Union government for its failure to check the smuggling of drugs from the borders, the Chief Minister said that the negligence of Union was responsible for the increasing drug addiction in the state. He said that the state government has raised this issue with the Union Home Minister a number of times but of no avail. Mr. Badal urged the Government of India (GoI) to take concrete steps to check the cross border smuggling from the borders.
Replying to another query the Chief Minister said that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) would discuss the issue of fielding its candidates outside the state with its alliance partner BJP and further line of action would be decided according to it.
The Chief Minister further said that due to the constant endeavors of the state government every resident of villages in Punjab would soon get the facility of 70 litres of potable drinking water per person/per day. He said that the concerted efforts were being made by the state government to achieve this target in the coming years. Besides Mr. Badal said that efforts were afoot to provide all the basic civic amenities to the urban as well as rural areas of the state in the coming years, to change the fate of people living in villages who were bereft of these facilities adding that in the first phase all the cities and towns would be equipped with the world class basic civic amenities.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government was spending Rs 1700 crore on the strengthening and upgradation of the rural road networks in the state. He also said that soon every block of the state would get one Hospital which would have the state-of-art Health care facilities in it. Likewise Mr. Badal said that the upgradation of the infra structure of the veterinary hospitals was also on cards.
Expressing concern over the depletion of the ground water in the state, the Chief Minister said that the farmer of the state has exploited this only available natural resource of the state to provide food security to the country. However he said that as the cultivation of paddy was not in the interest of the farmer of the state so the state government was laying stress on the crop diversification by adopting the cultivation of alternate crops like Maize and Basmati. Mr. Badal said that their government has already given a slew of incentives to Basmati cultivators to encourage them for basmati farming.
Later on paying rich homage to Sant Prem Singh Ji Muraalewale, the Chief Minister lauded the role played by him in the religious, educational and social field.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Mr. Pawan Tinu and Mr. Som Parkash, MLAs Bibi Jagir Kaur, Mr. Joginder Pal Jain and Mr. Surinder Singh Bhullewalrathan, Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. KJS Cheema, Deputy Commissioner Mr. DS Mangat, Chairman MARKFED Mr. Jarnail Singh Wahid and Chairman District Planning Committee Mr. Sarabjeet Singh Makkar.
