25 villagers from Leh-Ladakh call on Punjab Governor

CHANDIGARH, OCT  4
 A motivational tour comprising of 25 villagers and students, belonging to Batalik areas of Leh – Ladakh today called on the Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil, at Punjab Raj Bhavan, under operation Sadbhavana, conducted by the Indian Army.
       While interacting with them, the Governor enquired from them the places they had visited and what they had liked the most during the tour. All replied that it was an excellent opportunity for them to have visited places of religious, cultural and historical importance in Delhi, Chandigarh and other states.
       The Governor asked the team leader, Lt. Mithilesh Kumar that during future visits the students should be provided the opportunity to visit Parliament House and Rashtripati Bhavan at Delhi also.
        On the request of villagers to open a school for their children in their remote area, Mr Patil assured them that he will take up the matter with Defence Ministry to open Army school.
s     Wishing them a bright future ahead, Mr. Patil said that the initiative of Indian Army, to show the people of remote areas of Leh- Ladakh the unity and diversity of our nation is highly appreciable. He said that such educational and motivational tours, provides an opportunity to the villagers to enlighten themselves about the economic development of the country as well as to provide them insight into latest technology being utilized in agriculture and dairy farming, which can be incorporated in their own occupation.  
       Prominent amongst others who were present in the Sadbhavana meeting included Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor and Maj. Vivek Anand, ADC to Governor.
