LUDHIANA, OCT 1
The Punjab Revenue & Public Relations
Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia today accused PCC President Mr. Partap Singh
Bajwa of betraying the Punjab peasantry by mobilizing them to national capital
for getting announced a special package but could not get announced a single
penny for the debt ridden farming community. He said that the plain refusal of
UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for meeting the farmer’s delegation shows the
apathy of Congress for this hardworking
community along with the ‘stature’ of Mr. Bajwa in the eyes of party high
command. He also condemned the behavior of Rahul Gandhi towards Prime Minister
Dr. Manmohan Singh and equated with an incident of removal of turban of an
elder.
Addressing a series of Youth
Akali Dal (YAD) rallies at Bhai Bala Chowk, Pakhowal Road and Jodhewal Basti
besides interacting with the industrialists of industrial city during his
whirlwind tour, Mr. Majithia, who is also President of Youth Akali Dal, pointed
out that Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa was a known liar and an incapable advocate as
he has an old tendency to make false promises but delivers none.
He said that his latest drama
of mobilizing Punjab farmers to Delhi to get them a special package from UPA
Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has shown his true colours as the latter don’t even
bothered to meet those farmers. He said that the way Mr. Bajwa befooled the Punjabi
farmers by luring them to Delhi has exposed his seriousness towards the most
crucial issue of suffering farming community. He said that this theatric has
also uncovered his poor standing before the party high command.
He said that Mr. Bajwa simply
believes in divisive politics and the polarization of Congress leaders in the
state has proved that he was not a leader as he was miserably failed in leading
the party. He also pointed out that not only Mr. Bajwa but also the other seven
Congress MPs from Punjab have also being miserably failed in getting any
special package or mega project for the state.
He said that the recent
insult meted to Punjab farmers by the UPA Chairperson also highlights the
constant betrayal of Congress with hardworking farming community. He said that
since independence majority of the time Congress or Congress led UPA g
overnment’s had ruled the
country but did nothing significant to strengthen the farming sector. He said
that the Congress has been more bias against Punjabi farmers who have been
making a huge contribution of more than 50% in National Food kitty but the most
unfortunate aspect before us was that Punjabi farmers were reeling under a
whopping Rs.30,000 crore debt. He said that when Congress led UPA-1 government
was at the last leg it had announced a Rs.70,000 crore debt waiver scheme of
which Punjab farmers got less than Rs.1,000 crore despite their un-paralleled
contribution in making the nation self reliant on food grains front.
Describing the behavior of
Rahul Gandhi towards Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh highly condemnable, Mr.
Majithia said that it shows the Congress yuvraj’s arrogance despite total
failure on political front. Equating it with the removing a turban of an elder,
Mr. Majithia demanded that Rahul should apologize to the PM.
Exhorting the people of
Punjab especially the youth to play a pro-active role in installing NDA
government after coming general elections, Mr. Majithia said that it becomes
imperative to ensure the balanced and fast paced development including a major
economic package for Punjabi farmers to boost their sagging economy.
He said that the way Punjab
Congress leaders especially Congress MPs from Punjab have limited themselves to
destructive politics by creating hindrances in state projects and rightful
share of state in Central funds, the people of Punjab would give them a
befitting reply by ensuring their big defeats in Lok Sabha elections. He said
that we need a decisive, capable and able administrator as Prime Minister of
the Country and only NDA can provide this to save the country as Congress led
UPA government has taken the country to the brink of economic disaster.
He said that Shiromani Akali
Dal-BJP alliance has given the youth an appropriate representation at
government as well as in political set up. Expressing gratitude to Punjab Chief
Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh
Badal for showing confidence in youngsters and assured them that the Youth
Akali Dal workers would not leave any stone unturned to ensure clean sweep of
SAD-BJP on all 13 Lok Sabha seats in coming general elections.
Later interacting with
prominent industrialists of the city, Mr. Majithia said that the SAD-BJP
government has fulfilled its promise to provide world class infrastructure by
making state power surplus, setting up of two international along with five
domestic airports, linking every city and town of the state with 4/6 lane
highways besides implementing a new investor friendly industrial policy.
He said that even the Reserve Bank of India
has acknowledged Punjab as the best destination for investment which shows the
commitment of state government for promoting industry. He said that the Deputy
Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal’s recent Bangluru tour has resulted in
attracting IT giant Infosys and Bio con to set up their campuses in Mohali. He
urged the industrialists to expand their industrial units as well as setting up
new ones to create more and more job opportunities for the youngsters.
