Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today launched the new range of Markfed products viz. Instant Kesar Dalia, Honey Grits and Canned Mushrooms here at his residence this evening.
On the occasion, Mr. Badal highly appreciated the contribution of Markfed in the field of food processing sector and also for pioneering and introducing the innovative products at regular intervals for the consumers as well as for the Indian Diaspora settled abroad.
Divulging the details about the newly launched products, the Financial Commissioner Cooperation Mr. S.K. Sandhu said that owing to hectic lifestyle these days, a need had arisen to introduce a healthy, nutritious and enriched breakfast cereal as a balanced diet catering to the needs of kids as well as adults.
In order to provide a product which could fill up and satisfy the needs, Markfed had planned and introduced breakfast cereals like Instant Kesar Dalia and Honey Grits which was not only wholesome meal but was enriched with minerals, protein and vitamins too. Both the products are an instant feast and can be readied for consumption in a minute.
According to MD Markfed Mr. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Mushroom cultivators from across the state had been urging the Chief Minister to impart directions to Markfed for canning of the Mushrooms which had great scope in the domestic as well as in the international markets. Subsequently, the Markfed had thus initiated packing button mushrooms in-brine to cater to the huge market. With the canning of mushrooms through vacuum packing technology, mushrooms will be available to the consumers throughout the year and the availability of the mushrooms would also be unaffected with the fluctuations in price. The canned mushrooms are one of the richest sources of natural vitamin ‘D’.
