CHANDIGARH, JULY 19
Even as the number of engineering colleges have witnessed a steep increase in Punjab it is the periphery advantage which seem to attract students to opt for colleges located near Chandigarh. This is corroborated by the fact that nearly 22,000 seats have been falling vacant in majority of the colleges in Punjab, comprising colleges and students, while those located in and around the Chandigarh are witnessing an overwhelming response from the students.
Colleges in Chandigarh have been serving the students not only from Punjab and Haryana but also the neighbouring states like Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir. Despite several private universities making inroads into the neighboring states “Advantage Chandigarh” is still a major reason for students opting for engineering colleges. The reason is not far to see as devoid of any service sector placements are hard to come, while the colleges located in the periphery have not only successfully managed to arrange on-the-job trainings but also placements in reputed firms.
Besides this the colleges in the periphery offer several other advantages like a crime-free safe environment for the girl students. With qualified faculty and a cosmopolitan culture these colleges are being preferred over the ones located in the far off areas of Punjab. The high land of acquisition in the periphery of Chandigarh is however an issue which is acting as a deterrent for more educational groups from coming here.
The latest to join the group of select engineering colleges having an approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the Aryans College of Engineering. Located on the Chandigarh-Patiala Highway, near Chandigarh, the college has been granted 300 seats in Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication and Electrical Engineering.
Talking about their latest venture Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans College of Engineering, said, “We have been granted the AICTE approval and we have already set up the requisite infrastructure including the recruitment of 100 employees. Our major focus would be to produce Job Creators instead of Job seekers and we have already established the 1st incubation centre of the region by PTU. Apart from this 10 per cent seats have been reserved for the Economically Weaker Section of the society.”
Catering to the need of the hour he added, “Placements and tie-ups with industry would be the main thrust area, which is our strength. This is area in which we pay major stress thus promising a secure future to the students.”
Thanks for taking this opportunity to discuss this, I feel fervently about this and I like learning about this subject.mba colleges in punjab
