Guru Nanak Dev University would appoint
eminent personalities from various fields as visiting professors in order to
enhance the knowledge of the students, said Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ajaib
Singh Brar while addressing the Press Conference organized at the eve of
joining of world renowned singer, Padam Shri Hans Raj Hans as the visiting
fellow in the Music Department of the University.
This
Press Conference was organized in the Syndicate Room of the University here
today. Dr. Rajinderjit Kaur Pawar, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur,
Head of the Music Department, Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Professor Incharge
(Public Relations) and representatives of various Print and Electronic Media
were also present.
Vice-Chancellor
said that the contribution of Shri Hans Raj Hans is commendable in the field of
music especially in Sufi singing. He hoped that in depth knowledge of Shri Hans
Raj would enhance the knowledge of students of the Music Department
He
said that University would appoint more subject experts of National and
International repute as visiting fellows for the benefit of students of the
University.
Hans
Raj Hans thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his appointment as visiting fellow. He
said that he is always interested to do something in the field of teaching. He
said that he is already teaching Gurmat
Sangeet at American Universities and
Punjabi University, Patiala.
While talking about the
relationship of Spirituality, Music and Science he said that all are deeply
related to each other. He said that music is diet of soul while scientific
inventions are creation of mind. He said that good music always provide peace
of mind.
Dr. Gurpreet Kaur said that
one of University student of the Music Department is doing her Ph.D. on the
personality of Shri Hans Raj Hans. She hoped that with the appointment of Sh.
Hans Raj, the students of the Department would be benefited in many ways. Dr.
Rajinderjit Kaur Pawar also appreciated the Sufi Music of Sh. Hans Raj.
A Sufi Musical evening would
also be organized at the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University on March 15.
