AMRITSAR, APRIL 2
Senior BJP leader and state vice-president Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina was today appointed party’s Campaign Coordinator for five assembly seats, Majitha, Ajnala, Rajasansi, Attari and Amritsar (South) falling in Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency. These seats primarily BJP alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal (B) dominated areas and Chhina will coordinate with Akalis for party’s ongoing election campaign in favour of senior national leader and party’s candidate Arun Jaitley.
The decision regarding appointment of Chhina as Coordinator was taken by BJP state chief Kamal Sharma in consultation with district party leadership and party’s Lok Sabha constituency in charge and former state President Rajinder Bhandari. The final node for the appointment came from Jaitley himself who understand the significance of Akali’s role in making him win from these rural assembly constituencies.
``Jaitley will win the seat with heavy margin. We will route Congress in these elections’’, said Chhina adding that former CM and Congress candidate Captain Amarinder Singh is missing from election campaign. He said with NDA all set to form next government in Centre, Jaitley would hold a powerful portfolio in the next regime and would be a `voice of Amritsar’ who will usher in new era of development and progress.
Chhina, who is considered close to Akali circles, was chosen for the better coordination for the canvassing between the alliance partners, said the party sources.
