A three-day programme, which commenced today in the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Punjab attracted impressive participation from different print and electronic media. This training programme launched for mediapersons focuses on self-development and capacity building besides their pivotal role in highlighting the positive features of good governance and responsive administration.
Col. B.M. Sabhlok, Senior Consultant and an Expert of Management Development Cell while interacting with the mediapersons exhorted them to keep national interest & service to the society uppermost in their mind while carrying out their professional duties.
He stressed that the role of media is of paramount importance in influencing public opinion & bringing about positive change in the society through their healthy and meaningful writings in the columns of newspapers. The other issues, which he covered, focused on empowerment of woman and recognize their role in our homes and give them prominence in every field of activity in our social system. He also highlighted the strategies for sharpening professional skills through effective communication & learning processes besides giving them tips about importance of attitude & behavioral pattern in their professional career.
A prominent psychologist Mr. Sohan Singh, while sharing his knowledge and perceptions gave a thought provoking presentation on Self-motivation with a theme message to journalist community for self-assessment and personal evaluation daily to improve their professional performance and contribute for the betterment of the society.
Mr. Jagjit Puri, Principal Consultant of the Institute was also present during the course of discussion.
The training programme which will continue tomorrow & day after tomorrow will focus on communication & listening skills, team building concept for accomplishment of the goals, yoga & health and Stress management etc. The valedictory interaction session will be held on the concluding day i.e. May 13, 2011 with the interaction of participants with prominent personalities from media fraternity.
