Students of The Canadian School, British Columbia Academy today celebrated Halloween Day in their school. Renee Gallant, Principal of The Canadian School, first International school in the region which offers BC Canada curriculum hosted the students of Saupins school for the Halloween Day celebrations.
The school has been celebrating this special North American Holiday since its first session in 2009 for which activities were designed and organized by the Canadian students themselves. The Canadian School students exposed the Canadian culture for the students of Saupins’ school by organizing activities like Mummy wrap, Pumpkin Bowling, Face Painting, Mask making, Treasure Hunt, Obstacle Course, Commet the Skeleton, and Pumpkin Guts.
Briefing about this special day principal of the school told that Halloween is celebrated in Canada on or around October 31. It is a day to mark the single night in the year when, according to old Celtic beliefs, spirits and the dead can cross over into the world of the living. Some people hold parties and children may trick-or-treat in their neighborhood.
The Canadian School offers the British Columbia Ministry of Education prescribed curriculum, which is renowned internationally, to a diverse group of international and local students.  It is a unique institution for students to develop and learn as they are provided a Canadian education with an opportunity to experience the Indian Culture. Students at BCA will be enrolled as British Columbia students and upon completion of high school given the Dogwood Diploma, the British Columbia high school completion certificate. To meet the British Columbia Ministry of Education prescribed learning outcomes the school employs British Columbia certified Principal and teachers, Indian certified teachers are also hired to work along side Canadian teachers and provide extra support in the classroom.
BCA currently offers enrollment to students in Grades 3 -11. For the 2012 /13 academic session it will expand to include Grades 1 to 12. The school has started constructing its own campus, a state of the art building - a world class education facility on a 14 acre plot near Chandigarh facing Shivalik Hills and will be running its classes from the new campus for the upcoming session.
