India serve stern warning to rivals in WC Kabaddi

Defending champions India, Canada and Australia recorded victories in their respective group A matches in the Rs 4.51 Crore Prize Money 2nd Pearls World Cup Kabaddi here today.
Playing before the home crowd circle kabaddi giants India handed out a 70-18 thrashing to Germany and served a strong warning to the opponents.
In other outings Canada gave a kabaddi lesson to  Afghanistan by routing them by 63-15 and Australia carried too many guns against debutants whom they thrashed Nepal by 68-23.
       Punjab Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Sports Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal witnessed the match and cheered the teams. The Deputy Chief Minister is trying hard to get kabaddi (circle) included in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games.
Sukhbir Badal also announced a grant of Rs one lakh to injured kabaddi player Jaspreet Kaur.
Indian captain Sukhbir Singh Sarawan put up an impressive show as India had established a commanding 32-7 lead in the first half.
Indian raiders Sukhbir Singh Sarawan, Dulla Surkhpuria and Ragi Kheawal scored 9 points each while stopper Ekem Hanoor recorded eight stops.  Mangat Mangi got 5 and Gurvinder 4 stops.
       Earlier, Canada crushed Afganistan by 63-15 points. Canada were leading by 38-4 in the first half.  Canadian raider Lalia scored 8 points whereas stopper Sandeep Gurdaspuria was credited with 8 stops.
        Australia mauled Nepal by 68-23. Australia led by 36–6 at half time. Australia’s four raiders Sony Koinke, Gurpreet Singh, Pindri Badhani and Romi Lalto scored 9 points each whereas Australian catcher Davinder excelled in stopping. He earned 6 stops. Nepal’s raider Naval scored 7 points.
