Punjab Govt announces bonanza for its employees

The Punjab Government today notified the bonanza for major section its employees including special Grade Pay to certain categories of employees, increased House Rent for employees posted in  Patiala and Bathinda cities , Special additional increment for Drivers, Group –D employees, All Police Personnel up to the rank of Inspectors, 5% Additional House Rent for employees entitled for rent free accommodation besides increasing the pay scale of multipurpose Health Supervisors ( Male and Female ).

          According to an official spokesman the Government today issued a notification granting special increment to all drivers, Group D employees, Police personnel including Constables , Head Constables, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Sub Inspectors and Inspectors w.e.f. December 1, 2011 to all those who are in the regular service of State Government. The additional increment admissible would be calculated in accordance with Rule-9 of Punjab Civil Service (Revised Pay) Rules – 2009 and the amount of additional increment would be treated as pay for all intents and purposes. The spokesman clarified that date of next annual increment of employees would not be changed and it would be admissible to only those employees who are in regular service before 1^st December 2011. In the case of Police Personnel the additional increment would be admissible only to those police personnel who did not commit an act of indiscipline by way of participation in any strike etc.

          Fulfilling the long pending demand of the Employees working Patiala and Bathinda cities, the Punjab Government had decided to classify Patiala and Bathinda as category B cities and employees posted in these two cities would be entitled to House Rent Allowance at the rate of 20% of the basic pay w.e.f. December 1, 2011.

          The spokesman added that Punjab Government employees who are working in the posts having pay scales in Pay Band –1,2 and 3 have been given Special Grade Pay of Rs. 150 w.e.f. 1^st December 2011.

In a major decision the Punjab Government today revised the pay scales of Multipurpose Health Supervisors from Pay band 5910-20200+ GP 3000 with initial pay 11470 to 10300- 34800+ GP 3200 with initial pay of 13500 w.e.f. 1^st December 2011.

The spokesman added that Punjab Government today also notified additional House Rent Allowance of 5% of pay to such Government employees who have not been allotted Government accommodation but were entitled to rent free accommodation. This allowance would be in addition to normal house rent allowance admissible at the place of posting. This is subject to the condition that residence hired by the employee is in close proximity to his place of posting or at a place as may be special permitted by the authorities. It would be applicable from  December 1, 2011.
