Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal along with Deputy Chief Minister Singh Badal today honoured the Canada-based Punjabi NRI broadcaster and the owner of ‘Gaonda Punjab Radio’ Toronto Mr. Joginder Bassi with the ‘NRI Special Broadcaster Award’ carrying a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the CM and Deputy CM honoured Mr. Bassi at a simple but impressive ceremony held at Punjab Bhawan here this evening.
On the occasion the Chief Minister urged the foreign based Punjabi media to play a pro-active role in disseminating information, news and views in a free, fair and objective manner besides highlighting the overall development of the state in true perspective. Mr. Badal said that NRI media could play a constructive role in quelling the misconceptions from the minds of Punjabi Diaspora through acting as a bridge between them and the Punjabis of the state.
Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Cabinet Ministers Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, Jathedar Tota Singh, Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Mr. Sharanjeet Singh Dhillon and Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra besides Mr. Harpreet Dhaliwal.
