CM forms panel to regulate supply of quality fertilizes

CHANDIGARH, JULY 25
            To ensure and regulate the supply of high quality fertilizers, agro-chemicals and pesticides of reputed national and multi-national companies to the farmers through the village cooperative societies across the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash today constituted an eight-member committee under the chairmanship of financial commissioner development. 
            Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office said that the others members of the committee would include chairman punjab state farmers’ commission Dr.GS Kalkat, financial commissioner cooperation, vice chancellor Punjab agricultural university Ludhiana, secretary expenditure, MD markfed and director agriculture, besides registrar cooperative societies as a member convener of the committee.  Apart from these members, the committee has also been authorized to co-opt any expert member, if required as special invitee.   
            The aforesaid committee after assessing the demand of farmers with regard to fertilizers and agro-chemicals, the committee has been mandated to give its recommendations to the Chief Minister for his approval, relating to the supply of best quality of agro-chemicals and pesticides to the farmers through cooperative societies. 
            It may be recalled that the director agriculture and registrar cooperative societies would assess the total demand of fertilizers and agro-chemicals of farmers and forward the entire demand after assessment to the committee besides preparing a comparative statement of the rates quoted by the various national and multi-national companies on the basis of the bids/offers and open tenders invited by the Markfed for the procurement of these fertilizers and agro-chemicals.
