New block of Khalsa College’s Dispensary inaugurated

AMRITSAR, MARCH 19
The new block of the Dispensary cum-Urban Health Centre was today inaugurated at Khalsa College campus which will provide the medical facilities to more than 25,000 staff members, students of all the 17 educational institutions under one roof. The health centre is equipped with the ultra-modern machines and basic medical facilities along with the Physiotherapy and Khalsa Diagnostic Laboratory in the vicinity.
 The new building of the centre was dedicated to the staff and students by Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who said the previous dispensary was running in the dilapidated buildings which has been re-built as per the new medical requirements. ``This will soon emerge as multi-faculty primary health centre and it will be integrated with the physiotherapy and ultra-modern diagnostic laboratory which is already housed in the new block in the vicinity’’ said Chhina.
 Chhina said that apart from providing basic health and medical support to the staff and students, the dispensary and the physiotherapy outdoor patients department (OPD) is opened  to the select outside patients at a nominal fee. ``I feel the KCGC has the social responsibility also to assist in strengthening the medical infrastructure in and around the area of Khalsa College campus, thus the select, non-emergency cases are accommodated’;’, said he.
 The health centre offers TMT, ECG, TFT machines apart from beds for the indoor patients. Principal, Khalsa College Dr.Mehal Singh said that the facility has been upgrade in the new block on the demand of the staff and students. Medical Officer Dr.Charanjit Singh said that health centre would provide round the clock service to the students especially the hostellers. KCGC additional honourary secretary Swinder Singh Kathunangal, joint secretaries Nirmal Singh, SS Abdal, SS Mannan, Rajbir Singh, Principals of various colleges, schools, head of departments and manager projects NK Sharma were present.
