AHMADABAD SEPT 17
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today joined here the ‘Sadbhavana Mission’ launched by his counterpart in Gujarat Mr. Narendra Modi to strengthen the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood.
Expressing solidarity with the Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr. Badal on the behalf of Punjab and Punjabis lauded Mr. Modi’s initiative to undertake fast for three days with the sole objective to disseminate the message of national integration, harmony and prosperity amongst the people of Gujarat.  He hoped this campaign would not merely restrict to Gujarat but would also go a long way to sensitize the people of other states about the significance of peace and harmony in the present scenario. Mr. Badal also urged the Former Deputy Prime Minister and Senior BJP National leader Mr. L.K. Advani, who was also present on the occasion, to launch such campaign at the national level to spread the message of communal harmony, peace, unity, progress and prosperity in every nook and corner of the country.
In his address, Mr. Badal said that the Sikh religion has always propagated the message of universal brotherhood and well-being (Chardi Kala) of the people since its inception, that’s why every Sikh in his daily prayer (Ardaas) prays to the Almighty for the well-being of the entire mankind. He mentioned that Punjabis merely constituted just 2.5% of the country’s total population and contributed more than 60% of food grain in the national pool which had only been possible due to their progressive, resilient and peace-loving nature. He  said: “Punjabis have always stood as one to safeguard the hard earned atmosphere of peace and communal harmony in the State.”
Mr. Badal also appreciated the Gujarat Chief Minister for his pro-development vision and dynamic outlook for achieving the growth rate of 11% in Gujarat against the average national growth rate of 7 to 8 % and described him a ‘light house of development’ for the other states to follow the path of growth and prosperity.  He called upon the Chief Ministers of other states to replicate the Gujarat model of development to ensure the overall prosperity and progress in their respective states. He underscored the need to bring awareness amongst the masses to promote harmony, unity and brotherhood which was the need of the hour in the present scenario.  He emphasized the need to replace hatred by love and violence by peace to usher in an era of all round development and prosperity in the country.
Showing deep concern over the problems of poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, starvation and corruption, Mr. Badal solicited the whole hearted support and cooperation from all the like-minded political parties to curb these maladies. Mr. Badal made his firm resolve to extend full support and cooperation on behalf of the Shiromani Akali Dal to the ‘Sadbhavna Mission’ launched by Mr. Modi to curb the cult of violence and hatred to pave a way for the overall development and prosperity in the country because none of any nation or state could prosper without congenial atmosphere of harmony, peace and unityHe reiterated that the SAD-BJP alliance was committed to preserve and maintain the communal harmony and traditional brotherhood at all costs.
Mr. Badal appealed to the people of the country belonging to various political parties, social and religious organizations, different institutions and all right thinking persons to maintain harmony, peace and brotherhood to emerge India as a frontrunner country amongst all the nations across the globe.
