Badal to flag up issue of drug supply from Rajasthan with Vasundhra Raje

          Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that he would soon flag up the issue of heavy inflow of drugs like poppy husk from Rajasthan into the state with his Rajasthan counterpart.  
Interacting with the media persons after visiting the drug de-addiction centre at Central jail here today, the Chief Minister said that the drugs like poppy husk were being openly sold in the state of Rajasthan due to which it was difficult for the Punjab government to check its inflow in the state. He said that this was creating a serious problem in the state due to which their government would take every step to tackle this grave problem. Mr. Badal said that he would soon take up this matter with the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Mrs. Vasundhra Raje Scindia to find some viable solution for checking its supply into the state. 
Reiterating the commitment of the state government to eliminate the menace of drugs from the state, the Chief Minister said that they have recently constituted a Special Cell to take stringent action against the drug peddlers in the state adding that the cell has been directed to make Punjab a drug Free State by cracking down on every person involved in this heinous crime.
Declaring a war against drugs in the state, Mr. Badal said that the state government has taken unprecedented steps to check this menace in the state and soon its results would be visible to the people. He further said that the state government has adopted a twin policy of checking the drug peddling along with carrying out a massive program of drug de-addiction in the state, to bring back the drug addicted youth into the main stream.
The Chief Minister also announced that the Drug de-addiction centre currently operating in the local civil hospital would be soon upgraded and the experts of the Baba Farid Health Sciences University would provide their services to the treat the drug addicted youth. He also said that soon the Doctors of the state government would be imparted a fortnight long training by the University to equip them to treat and motivate the drug addicts to shun away the practice of taking drugs.
Earlier the Chief Minister visited the drug de-addiction centre in the Central jail and took the stock of the treatment facilities being provided to the drug addicted youth. He also interacted with the jail inmates undergoing treatment in the centre and asked them to shun the practice of taking drugs. Mr. Badal assured them of every possible support to join the main stream. He also directed the officers to upgrade the infra structure in the centre so that more and more drug addicts could be benefitted from it.  
The Chief Minister was accompanied by former MLA Mr. Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, his Special Principal Secretary Mr. KJS Cheema and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Basant Garg.
