CHANDIGARH, JULY 1
The Director General of Police, Haryana, Mr. S. N. Vashisth, has directed all district senior police officers to make adequate arrangements for providing better facilities and ensuring safety of devotees of Lord Shiva, known as  Kanwariyas during their annual pilgrimage as well as maintaining law and order in their respective districts during the month-long Shrawani Yatra starting from July 13.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that DGP has also appealed to Kanwariyas that they should not use high volume loudspeakers in vehicles during their journey so as to avoid any incident of accident.  In addition, the Kanwariyas should not travel along with any type of article that would cause inconvenience during their yatra.
He said that police officers have been asked to coordinate with voluntary and religious organizations as well as locals and ensure that camps for temporary halt of Kanwariyas should be set up at a distance from roadside. If the officers consider that there can be traffic jam on a particular road, in that case, the concerned police officers should immediately divert the traffic before traffic congestion. He appealed the Kanwariyas that they should go by the road side and cooperate with local police during their Kanwar yatra.
