Punjab doubles allowance of drivers

CHANDIGARH, JULY 6
The Punjab government has decided to revise special Pay/Special Allowance to the drivers working in the Departments/Offices other them Secretariat Offices.         
According to an official spokesman the departments have been asked to identified that such drivers working in the departments/offices and other than Secretariat Offices, who were working after working hours, holidays and Sundays. 
The Allowance of such drivers have been revised from Rs. 300/- to 700/- from 5-9-2008 and from Rs. 700 to 1400 from 1-10-2010.  The special allowance is not to be paid to the Drivers who have retired before 5-9-2008 or expired or not in services from any other reason. The staff car drivers posted in projects where Project Allowance is admissible would not be granted this allowance.
