CM approves Rs 750 crore project for repair/strengthening of link roads

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 19
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today approved Rs. 750 crore project for repair and strengthening of 6500 kilometer link roads in the state.
          While chairing a meeting to review the progress of strengthening of ongoing road infrastructure projects at CM residence, Mr. Badal finalized repair, widening and up-gradation of 6500 kilometer link road stretches in the state. He gave on the spot directions to officers of Public Works Department to ensure the construction as early as possible. He said that the project of connecting all towns and cities to 4/6 lane roads were going on war footing and the repair, widening and refurbishment of link road work should be executed on full swing. It was informed in the meeting that the work would be started before  May20.
          Meanwhile, Chief Minister also took stock of ongoing Rs. 1115 crore project of strengthening of road infrastructure of 7825 kilometers link road and directed the authorities concerned to accomplish this project before 30 June. Additional Chief Secretary of PWD informed that more than 56 percent construction under this project had been completed while the remaining work would also be finished within stipulated time frame.
          Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary PWD Mr. NS Kalsi, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Gaggandeep Singh Brar, Secretary Mandi Board Mr. Tejinder Pal Singh and senior officers of PWD and Mandi Board.
