Khalsa College introduces M. Phil, 17 other Professional Courses

AMRITSAR, APRIL 19 
The Autonomous Khalsa College Amritsar’s Governing Body today approved the M.Phil and 17 other new courses and diplomas for the next academic session 2016-17. The new courses include post-graduate degree in Fine Arts, Religious Studies, Music, Theatre, Dance, Journalism and Fashion Designing apart from the B.Sc. (Hons) in Food Science, Chemistry, Physics and B.A (Hons.) in English and Punjabi.
 College’s Governing Body meeting was presided over by the Khalsa College Governing Council President Satyajit Singh Majithia in which Council’s honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, UGC representative Dr. Vibha Chauhan, GNDU nominee Dr.Paramjit Singh Judge, Principal Dr.Mehal Singh and Councils’ Finance Secretary Gunbir Singh took part and the paramount academic body for the autonomous college gave approval to new courses.
 Apart from these degrees, the professional courses and diplomas including PG Diploma in Garment Construction and Fashion Designing, Diploma in Computerized Accounting, Diploma in Nursery Management, Diploma in Landscaping, Diploma in Field Crop Cultivation, Diploma in seed Production Technology, Diploma in Organic Farming and Diploma in Bio Pest Control was also given the green signal. 
The body which is topmost decision making forum discussed all academic, financial and administrative matters including the new regulations of Guru Nanak Dev University relating the students registration, examinations and re-evaluation. Various option and elective subjects in Agriculture including fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture, Crop Science were also given the nod, said Principal Dr.Mehal Singh.  
 The budget of the autonomous college was also unanimously passed during the meeting. The other members of the body included S. Swinder Singh Kathunagal Ajmer Singh Heir, Dr.Navreen Bawa, Dr. MS Batra, Prof..Sukhmeen Bedi, Principal Jagdish Singh.
