Memorials of Virasat-e-Khalsa to be opened for public

          Memorials of Virasat-e-Khalsa at Sri Anandpur Sahib, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial at Chapparchiri, Wadda Ghallughara at Kup Rohira and Chhota Ghallughara at Kahnuwan would now remain open for general public from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm during six days a week except Monday and other national holidays.
          This decision was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal in a meeting to review the current status of these memorials here at CMO this morning.
The Chief Minister asked the Cultural Affairs department to provide the best facilities for guidance to the visitors about the historical importance of these monuments besides ensuring upkeep and maintenance of these memorials.  Mr. Badal also asked the GMADA to execute the left over works at Chapparchiri Memorial regarding the installation of lift up to 35 meters, acoustic system in domes for immersive experience and completion of the landscaping of the open space in the memorial on the priority.  Mr. Badal also gave his nod to constitute committees for each memorial comprising representatives of GMADA,
Cultural Affairs and the local administration for smooth functioning of these memorials.   He also gave go ahead for setting up of information centers in all these memorials to provide basic information from the historical and cultural perspective.
The Chief Minister also asked the officers to get the remaining work at Chhota and Wadda Ghallugharas expedited from the executing agency -L&T so that these could be handed over to the PWD positively by July 31.  Mr. Badal also asked the Principal Secretary Cultural Affairs to work out the modalities relating to maintenance of Bhai Randhir Singh Memorial at Narangwal district Ludhiana after its completion by the
state government.  Regarding the completion of Basian Kothi Memorial at Raikot, Mr. Badal asked the GLADA to immediately release Rs.73 lac so that the first phase of the project could be accomplished. Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Principal Secretary Cultural Affairs Mr. SS Channy, Principal Secretary Irrigation Mr. KBS Sidhu, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. KJS Cheema, CA GMADA Mr. Sarvjit Singh, Chief Engineer PWD Mr. AK Singla besides the deputy commissioner of Patiala, Mohali, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, Sangrur and representative of L&T and INTACH.
