AMRITSAR, AUGUST 5
Bhartiya Janta Party state vice president Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today hailed the judgment of Pakistan Supreme Court in which the apex court had decided in favour of Gurudwara lands, which is being usurped by the land mafia. There are around 200 Sikh Gurdwaras in Pakistan which has huge chunk of lands but that is being grabbed by the mafia and now the verdict would provide a relief to the community.
He stated that some members of Aukaf Board and even Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) had been in hands in glove with the land mafia in Pakistan. ``This issue has exposed the nexus and we can hope that the lands belonging to the shrines in Pakistan would be protected’’, said Chhina in a press statement issued here today.
Chhina also expressed concerns over the repair and upkeep of various Gurdwaras in Pakistan and said many of the historic Gurdwaras were in the dilapidated conditions. ``The friendly relations between India and Pakistan would usher in more cooperation that would help the Sikhs to maintain their shrines’’, said Chhina adding that the upcoming Independence day of India (Aug 15) and Pakistan (Aug 14) must remind the two countries to forge the closer ties between the two nations.
He also appealed the Pakistan government to provide protection to the Sikh Gurdwaras in Pakistan as their lands were in danger and also help the Sikh community to repair and maintain the religious places as per the Sikh traditions.
