CHANDIGARH, JULY 5
The Punjab Government gave appointment letters for the regular PCMS-I cadre to 388 MBBS doctors. These appointment letters were handed over to the newly appointed doctors by Mr Madan Mohan Mittal, Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab during a ceremony at Parivar Kalyan Bhawan, Chandigarh. These doctors were also allocated on the spot postings on the stations of their choice as per their merit. Smt Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary, Health; Smt Raji P. Shrivastava, MD PHSC; Sh Raj Kamal Chaudhary, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare; Sh S.K. Sharma, Mission Director, NRHM, Punjab; Dr J.P. Singh, Director Health Services; Dr Karanjit Singh, Director Family Welfare; Dr Ashok Nayyar, Director ESI and Dr Pyare Lal Garg, ED, SHSRC were present on the occasion.
While
extending a warm welcome to the newly appointed doctors, Sh Madan Mohan
Mittal reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment to provide better
health care facilities to the people and stated that new recruitments in
the department are being done at a large scale with the objective to
meet the gap of shortage of doctors and para-medics. He added that with
the joining of these new doctors, the health services in the state would
definitely improve to a further level. He informed that prior to these
388 MBBS doctors, the department had during the last month, also issued
appointment letters to 180 new regular specialist doctors. Similarly
other medical and paramedical vacancies are also being filled to
facilitate better medical services for the people.
The Minister
expressed satisfaction that the entire process of this recruitment had
been very fair and transparent and even the Doctors are being given the
choice stations on the spot, according to their merits. While addressing
the newly appointed doctors, Sh Mittal said that Doctors are considered
next to the God and are blessed with the skills to save precious lives,
and hence no one can take their place. He exhorted them
to work serve the community with utmost dedication and live up to the
expectations of the public. Health Minister also handed over the
appointment letters to 6 clerks and 16 class IV employees appointed on
compassionate grounds in the Health Department, Punjab.
Smt.
Vini Mahajan stated that, further improvement in the health sector in
the state was one of the top priorities of the Punjab Government and all
possible steps are being taken in this direction. She welcomed the
newly appointed doctors on the rolls of Health Department and urged them
to work with honesty and sincerity and make their full efforts to
deliver good health care services to the people.
Ms
Raji P. Shrivastava gave orientation to the new doctors regarding the
services being provided in the hospitals and other programmes under
Punjab Health Systems Corporation.
Mr
S.K Sharma, while addressing the new doctors told them about the
National health programmes and other initiatives and services being
extended under the National Rural Health Mission, Punjab. Dr J.P Singh
gave orientation to the doctors regarding various types of services and
duties. He also informed them regarding the special arrangements made
for medical fitness tests at designated places in order to facilitate
their early joining in the department. Besides this, different senior
officers of the department held brief induction orientation on various
health issues and programmes during the occasion.
