CHANDIGARH, JULY 26
Punjab today registered a vigilance case against Regional
Manager Punsup posted at Ludhiana, a Public Distribution Clerk and an owner of a
rice sheller for misappropriating 121 wagons of rice from his mill.
Disclosing this Mr Suresh Arora, DGP-cum-Chief
Director Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that in this case a FIR No. 6 dated
25.7.2012, u/s 409, 120-B, 420 IPC and 13 (1) (d), 13(2) Prevention
of Corruption Act at Police
Station VB Ludhiana has been registered
against Sher Singh Regional Manager Punsup, Hari Ram Clerk and Ranjit
Singh, owner of a rice sheller M/s Baba Khajjan Dass Agro Industries village
Bhutta, District Ludhiana for causing a loss to the state exchequer to the tune
of approximately Rs. 5.42 crore.
He
further added that as per the record of Punsup total 1,54,615 bags (5411 Metric
Ton) of Paddy was stored at the Baba Khajjan Dass rice sheller in the year 2011-12
but during a surprise checking by MD Punsup it was found that 1,39,465 bags
(121 wagons rice) were found to be short in the stock. He said that in this
case the officers/officials of Punsup have also violated the custom billing
policy. He added that the accused were absconding and the investigation of the
case was under progress.
