The Punjab Right to Service Commission has recommended notification of addition of 41 more services in the preview of Right to Service Act 2011.
In
its meeting held here under the Chairmanship of Mr. SC Agrawal, Chief
Commissioner, it was recommended to the Government to notify 41 more citizen
centric services under section 3 of the Punjab Right to Service Act, 2011.
According to Mr. S.C. Agarwal originally 67 services were notified by the
Government vide notification dated 28.07.2011 under path breaking Right to
Service Act. He said that while implementing the recommendations of the
commission the government had made certain medications in the previous
notification and the services increased to 69 as notified vide notification
dated 30.05.2012.
Mr. Agrawal while elaborating the
recommendations stated that the Commission after having detailed discussions
with various departments of the Punjab Government has made these
recommendations which if implemented the number of services will be increased
to 110 and this would go a long way in mitigating the problems of the public at
large. Apart from this the commission has also recommended amendment in 3
already notified services.
He said that as per data
available with the commission, from the day of inception, 15,07,319 citizens
have got the various services under the Act.
Punjab Right to Service Commission has received only 4 Revision
petitions till date. The Commission while exercising powers to take suo-moto
action has sent 12 cases to the 2nd appellate authorities for
decision, 170/11 appeals have been filed before various 1st and 2nd
appellate authorities respectively in the State of Punjab.
Mr. Agarwal said that
the Commission has already standardized the formats for filing RTS appeals and
loaded on the website of the commission (www.rtspunjab.com) for the convenience
of the public. Formats for obtaining all the notified services have also been
standardized and are being loaded on the website of the respective departments
or on the website of the commission for obtaining these services. The
Commission is continuously monitoring the implementation of the provisions of
the Act by inspecting field offices apart from creating awareness amongst the
general public.
