Punjab to start online registration of property: Sukhbir

CHANDIGARH, JULY 12
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that Punjab is all set to become first state in country to start online registration of property and land with the completion of pilot project in two districts of SAS Nagar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
In a meeting held to review the ongoing projects of Revenue Department, Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, Revenue Minister informed that going by the commitment of SAD-BJP government to bring transparency in the revenue transactions, the revenue department is all set to implement online registration of property and land and Mohali would be the first district in which this project would be implemented by October.
Explaining the details of the first of its own kind people friendly project, the Revenue Minister said that under the project, the buyer would send e-mail to the portal of Punjab Land Record Society requesting for the registration and he would be allotted a password through e-mail. He said that after that he would fill the details of the property on the browser of Portal and type himself the text of registration of document. He said that software itself Calculate the stamp duty and he would mention the challan number of deposit of stamp duty in the browser. He said that after the submission of the document through e-mail, the registration authority would check the document, accept it or reject it and give a print out of the registration to the buyer after depositing the registration fee.
The Minister informed that it was a pilot project and a team was working to solve the teething problem that would reduce the interaction between government and the people reducing corruption.
Lauding the initiative the Deputy Chief Minster said that we should further improve this project by coordinating with the banks for online deposit of stamp duty and registration fee so that visit of buyer to the treasury or bank could be avoided.
The Deputy Chief Minster said that by 2013 the revenue department should ensure expansion of this project to all the districts.
Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting included Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Finance Minister, Mr. Rakesh Singh, Chief Secretary, Mr. N.S. Kang, Financial Commissioner Revenue, Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Special Principal Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister.
