By Punjabnewswire4u
JALANDHAR, APRIL 28
The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, today slammed the Congress party for misleading the poor and downtrodden sections of the society in order to fulfill its vested political interests.
Addressing a mammoth gathering during the state level function organized by the Aadi Dharam Samaj (AADHAS) to celebrate the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar here today, the Chief Minister said that instead of formulating the policies for the development of the weaker sections of society the Congress has always deceived them by depriving them of their legitimate rights and by devising pro-rich policies. He said that it was the policy of the Congress to deny basic facilities to weaker sections of the society but by raising slogans like ‘Garibi Hatao’ it has always shown ‘Green pastures’ to them for achieving its vested political goals. Mr Badal said that the net result of all these anti-poor policies of the Congress party was that the nation was confronting numerous social maladies like Poverty, inflation, corruption, illiteracy and others despite of the fact that the nature has blessed our country with a bounty of productive natural resources.
Training his guns against the Congress led UPA government at the centre, the Chief Minister pointed out that the Union government has miserably failed on all the fronts adding that today due to the wrong policies of the Union government the security of the country was in deep peril, as two of our neighboring countries China and Pakistan were posing a major danger to its sovereignty. Mr Badal further said that even the Union government has totally failed in checking the smuggling of drugs through the borders, which was ruining the youth of the country and creating a major law and order problem.
The Chief Minister categorically said that the Ministers of the Union government have amassed huge wealth by plundering the tax payer’s money through scams like Common Wealth games, 2G, Adarsh Housing Society and others. He said that the money collected through such scams, which have became the order of the day, could have ensured the welfare of people of Punjab for many successive years. However Mr Badal said that in order to evade any action the Congress leaders have stashed their black money illegally in the foreign banks due to which the Union government was not making any attempt to bring this money back.
Reiterating that the Congress was meting out step motherly treatment with the state, the Chief Minister said that the imposition of the Wealth Tax on farmers was the conspiracy of the UPA government to crush the peasantry of Punjab, which was the backbone of agrarian economy of the state. Mr Badal vowed that the Shiromani Akali Dal would leave no stone unturned to assure that the Union government revokes its decision to levy this tax on the farmers. He further said that even the faulty criteria of devolution of Central taxes have always deprived the state of its legitimate right to get more funds for development under the central grants.
Paying rich tributes to Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Chief Minister said that as the Chairman of Drafting Committee of the Constituent assembly Dr Ambedkar framed a perfect constitution adding that no one could have performed this duty well then Baba Saheb. He said that the life and philosophy of Dr Ambedkar was a lighthouse for the coming generations as fighting against all the odds Baba Saheb not only brought a revolution by championing the cause of weaker sections of society but also did a commendable work for the emancipation and empowerment of women. Mr Badal said that a great visionary, Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, fought vehemently for getting the voting right for weaker sections of society thereby opening new avenues of attaining political power for them.
The Chief Minister further said that following the footsteps of Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the SAD-BJP alliance government has taken path breaking initiatives for ensuring the welfare of the weaker sections of the society. He said that the SAD-BJP government was the only government in the country which had started Atta-Dal Scheme, Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme, Shagun Scheme and others for well being of the downtrodden and weaker sections of the society.
Earlier in his address Chief of AADHAS Mr Darshan Rattan Raavan recalled the great contribution of Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in the upliftment of the people belonging to Scheduled Caste Communities.
