The students from Agriculture Department of Khalsa
College Amritsar (KCA) undertook a study tour to the milk plant at Verka and a
model village Majhwind. The trip was part of their studies in agriculture and
they were overwhelmed to see the new technology being used in the milk
packaging, pasteurization and marketing, which is emerging as a major allied
activities of the farming today.
The trip that was undertaken as per the guidance of
KCA Principal Dr.Daljit Singh was led by senior teachers including Prof. Gurdev
Singh and Prof.Satnam Singh. At village Majhwind which had been a model village
in Majitha constituency for the development carried out and sanitary work,
Sarpanch Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu apprised students that included girls and boys
about the affairs of the panchayats.
The students were inquisitive about who village
panchayat functions, its roles and participation in the rural development. They
visited panchayat house, saw the development works including sports stadium in
the village, water supply and sanitary programs. ``It was a learning experience
for the students. We wanted to provide them first-hand experience of the
village administration’’, said Prof.Satnam Singh.
He said at milk plant, the students learnt about the
whole affairs relating the milk’s marketing and how it is packed and
transported to the distant places.
