Governor directs UT to give Rs 2 lakh to acid victim

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 1
 The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Mr Shivraj V. Patil, gave a patient hearing to all the four complainants who appeared in today’s Public Hearing Session held at UT Secretariat.
       Responding to the request of Miss Neha Takkar an acid attack victim who requested for compensation, Mr Patil asked Home secretary UT to give minimum compensation of Rs two lakh immediately to the victim and if the court decides more then the decided amount would be given accordingly.
       In another case Mr RK Garg raised issue of Public concern in which he said that call girl prostitution has gone Hi Tech. On this IGP apprised the Administrator that case has already been registered and we are taking all necessary steps to check this practice.
In another complaint, Professor RS Mishra said that he had applied for the post of Director PEC but has not been called for the interview. Mr Patil asked Finance Secretary to consider his request and call him also for the interview.
Mr Ramesh Kumar of Palsora colany said in his complaint that his name was not considered in Biometric Survey. Mr Patil assured that his case would be considered sympathetically as per rules.
In todays hearing session in which heads of all concerned departments were also present to redress the problems of the public on the spot, Mr. Patil asked the officers to strengthen the public grievances mechanisms in their respective departments to improve service delivery systems.       
       Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included, Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr. V.K. Singh, Finance Secretary,  Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Mr Mohammad Shayin, Deputy Commissioner   Mr. R.P. Upadhya, Inspector General of Police, Mrs. Prerna Puri, Secretary IT-cum-Additional Secretary Home and Mrs. Tanvi Garg, IAS, SDM.
