The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union
Territory, Chandigarh, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil, after inaugurating, Buddha’s Home
Coming, an International Photo Festival of Tibet by Indian photographer Mr.
Vijay Kranti at the Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University here today, said
that Buddhism emerged as a world religion essentially
of peace and humanism influencing the religious, social and cultural lives of
millions of people in the vast Asian continent and the world at large.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor said that the Art and Culture, the Music
and Truth has no boundaries. He said music and art has its own language. He
said that all the photographs in
this exhibition would be liked and appreciated in all the states of India and
all countries of the world. They do depict that art and culture need not divide
can unite and should unite.
Congratulating
the artist from the bottom of his heart Mr Patil wished him all the best in
these kinds of efforts”. He said this
exhibition presents the success story of a microscopic Tibetan refugee
community in India in reviving their culture to its best glory during past 50
years. He said that he was told that this photo festival is going to be
presented in many other countries in coming two years which would go long way in
spreading and promoting rich cultural values of Tibetan Buddhist culture.
Showing keen
interest in the exhibition, the Governor said the
photographs display an excellent combination of natural beauty and human
devotion. He said it has been a great honor and privilege to open this
excellent exhibition of photographs taken in the religious sites associated
with Lord Buddha's life .
Congratulating Mr. Vijay Kranti who, as a senior journalist, a photographer and
as a Tibetologist has devoted 40 years of his life in studying and documenting
the life of Tibetan people, Mr. Patil wished him success in this International
Photo Festival and his other photo exhibitions going to be organized across the
world in next two years.
Prominent amongst
others who were present on the occasion included Mr. Prof. Arun Kumar Grovar,
Vice Chancellor, Panjab University and Dr. Tirthankar Bhattacharya, Chairman,
Department of Art History &Visual Arts (Fine Arts).
