13 Punjab youth duped by travel agents

CHANDIGARH, MAY 2
The NRI Commission of Punjab today issues notice to the Secretary (Home) state of Punjab and Commissioner of Police Jalandhar to submit the report on or before may 31,2013 regarding the fraud by travel agents with the 13 young men.
A spokesman of the NRI Commission today said that the NRI Commission has taken the Suo-Moto of news published in newspapers in respect of 13 young men returned to their homeland disillusioned with their foreign dreams from Iraq alleging fraud by local travel agents. Spokesman further said that one of their companions Jagdeep Singh is still held hostage by armed goons in West Asian Country, as he could not arrange Rs 50,000 for which his parents are in possession of a video which shows their son surrounded by goons carrying lethal weapons.  
          He said that travel agents Parminder Singh,Sunil Kumar and Saheb  with their office in Rama Mandi area sent these 13 boys  to Iraq in lieu of Rs 15 lakh and promised them a job . However they were forced to live in extreme deprivation and no job was provided. He said that now the travel agents are stated to be absconding and their offices are locked.
He said that NRI Commission has issued notices to Secretary (Home) Punjab and Commissioner of Police Jalandhar to apprise the Commission as to the status of the said case and to submit the status report on or before the May 31, 2013.
