Punjab Vidhan Sabha mourns Sarbjit Singh tragic demise

CHANDIGARH, MAY 3
          The Punjab Vidhan Sabha today paid glowing tributes to Mr. Sarbjit Singh describing him as a ‘National Martyr’.
          The Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal moved a resolution which was unanimously passed by the state assembly. The resolution read as:
“Today’s emergency session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha expresses deep grief over the merciless killing of Mr. Sarbjit Singh in the prison in Pakistan. This house pays rich tribute to Mr. Sarabjit Singh, believing him to be a martyr of the country.
This House strongly asks the Central government to build up international pressure to get the causes of the martyrdom of Mr. Sarabjit Singh investigated by an impartial International agency.
          This house also asks the Central government to initiate strong and effective diplomatic efforts to ensure the safety of prisoners belonging to India and of Indian origin, who are lodged in the prisons of Pakistan or other countries”.
          No other business was transacted in the house as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
