Amritsar-Delhi-Kolkata Corridor must be completed in time-bound manner

AMRITSAR, JUNE 8
Bhartiya Janta Party state vice president Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today said that Amritsar- Delhi-Kolkata Corridor must be completed in a time-bound manner. He said the decision taken by the Centre was late but nevertheless it will help the backward border region gain economically, provided the UPA was seriously enough to implement the project in time.
Chhina said the Corridor should have been extended to Attari Border. He said that SAD-BJP government led by Parkash Singh Badal and state BJP had taken up the matter relating Corridor with Centre at number of times. ``It is sad to know that the project will take 10 more years to complete. The work must start immediately and it should be completed within two years’’, said he.
He said it was unfortunate that even though Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh belonged to the `holy city’, he failed to undertake development in the city. ``PM has failed to bring developmental works for the city where he was born and spent his childhood’’, said Chhina adding that the industry and trade suffered during partition and then during terrorism in the state. ``Special attention was required for the region to prosper industrially’’, said he.
He said it was also not clear how many people will be benefitted by the project as the Congress led-UPA has presented a half-baked story by proposing the project which is expected to take long time to complete.
