CM approves water supply policy for left out Deras & Dhanis

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 25
The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today approved the policy to ensure adequate supply of drinking water for the inhabitants of all the far-flung Deras & Dhanis, which were not yet covered under the Rural Water Supply Scheme.
According to a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office, under this new policy Mini Water Works would be installed in the Deras & Dhanis with the population above 250 and Micro Water Works for Dhanis with population ranging between100 to 250. Likewise, Dhanis with population less than 100 would have Indian Mark-II Deep well hand pumps where ground water is fit for human consumption.
Referring to another significant decision related to the setting up of Ecosystem Management Decision Support(EMDS) Park at the Knowledge City Mohali, the Chief Minister has also approved  the allotment of 40 acres of land to Punjab InfoTech for the establishment of Ecosystem Management Decision Support(EMDS)  park for which the facilities like water supply, trunk sewerage, electricity supply lines would be provided by Greater Mohali Area Development Authority(GMADA) and the work for the internal development of the land would be entrusted to the Punjab InfoTech.
