To provide quality education to the rremotest student of the
State, the Punjab Government have established 2077 EDUSAT Computer Labs
under NABARD Project to enhance teaching and learning process in the
state schools. Besides, 1107 more such EDUSAT Labs would be established
in the remaining schools.
Disclosing this here today Mr Sikandar Singh Maluka, Education Minister
Punjab said that rural students who were not able to a pay hefty fees
to the coaching centers were able to prepare themselves through
satellite learning and as many as 1719 students from the rural areas
were selected in Engineering and Medical Colleges through this
e-learning programme.
The
Education Minister informed that 1016 EDUSAT classroom ends have been
established with 516 Satellite Interactive Terminals (SITs) and 500
Receive Only Terminals (ROTs) in various government secondary schools in
the state.
He added that this year a crash course was conducted from 28th February
to 5th May for competitive coaching to enable the students to review
the lectures at their convenience. "The EDUSAT society have enrolled
more than 3000 students at 100 classroom ends for programme of six weeks
duration and study material consisting more than 800 pages was supplied
free of cost to every student" he said.
Expressing
satisfaction over the EDUSAT system providing tele-teaching in the
government schools, the Education Minister said that the Punjab EDUSAT
Society had provided free coaching tele-services to the 10+2 students of
medical and non-medical streams for competitive examinations who were
unable to pay the unaffordable fees of private coaching centers. "Due to
the free coaching services about 300 students belonging to poor strata
of society were able to got admissions into the medical and engineering
colleges", he added.
Mr
Maluka further said that in addition to these competitive coaching
classes, the society was broadcasting regular lectures on hard topics in
the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English and
Commerce to the students of Medical, Non-Medical, and Commerce. "The
best of the faculty available in India have been roped in to deliver the
best of the competitive educational content for the usage of the
aspiring students", he added.
