The Punjab Government is committed to
elevate the education standard of all the private colleges in the state by
sympathetically considering the demands of the management of these
institutions. It was assured by Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister
Punjab in a meeting with the representatives of the administrative committees
of private colleges in Punjab.
The delegations of the private
colleges have today called on Mr. Maluka to request the Punjab Government for
the approval of their long pending demands. During the meeting the delegation
which was led by Mr. S C Sawalnka, president management federation, Dr. SP
Singh, Ex -vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University and Mr. Jaswant Singh Gill, Secretary
Management of non government college management federation of Punjab and Chandigarh, put up various
demands before the minister. The delegation specifically urged the minister to
lift ban on the recruitment of the faculty in the private run colleges, to
release arrears of the employees pending from January 2006. The delegation has
also requested the Punjab Government to issue instruction to all the
universities to consult the administrative committees of the private colleges
before taking any decisions for these private colleges. It was also requested
that a council for higher education be set-up in which reprenstative of the private
colleges be included.
The Education Minister Punjab said
that the genuine demands of delegation would also consider with
sympathetically.
Prominent amongst other who
were present in the meeting included Mrs Ravneet Kaur, Secretary Higher
Education, Mr. Chander Gaind Special Secretary Education and Mr. Mahinder Singh
Prashar, Under Secretary Finance department.
