In a bid to review the situation where the government land was
under unauthorized possession in rural and urban areas, the Punjab government
has constituted two Cabinet Sub committees comprising
five cabinet ministers each for effectively tackling the situation
after due deliberations.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s
Office said that the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal gave his nod for the
constitution of these committees on Saturday evening. The Cabinet sub committee
to review the unauthorized possession of government land in urban areas
comprises Local Bodies Minister Mr Chunni Lal Bhagat, Food and Civil Supplies
Minister Mr Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, Finance Minister Mr Parminder Singh
Dhindsa, Education Minister Mr Sikander Singh Maluka and PWD Minister Mr
Sharanjeet Singh Dhillon. Likewise the Cabinet sub committee to review
situation where the government land was under unauthorized possession in rural
areas consists of Tourism Minister Mr Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Health and Family
Welfare Minister Mr Madan Mohan Mittal, Irrigation Minister Mr Janmeja Singh
Sekhon, Revenue Minister Mr Bikram Singh Majithia and Panchayat & Rural
Development Minister Mr Surjit Singh Rakhra.
These Cabinet Sub Committees have been asked to submit their
reports along with recommendations to tackle with this situation efficaciously
besides suggesting concrete steps that such situation does not recur in future,
positively by January 31, 2013. These Sub Committees have also been asked to
take assistance of the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Finance and
Advocate General besides any other officer/ officials of the state government
as they may deem fit according to their requirement.
Pertinently the Punjab Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister
had recently in its meeting held on December 12 approved to constitute
these Cabinet Sub committees for reviewing the situation where the
government land was under unauthorized possession in urban and rural areas.
