Punjab to have separate force for policing in night

 Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is also holding the charge of Home Minister, today announced constitution of separate force for policing the state during night hours.
           Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a function here today, Mr. Badal said that Punjab would be the first state in the country that would have dedicated force for night duty, who would be given permanent rest during day time. He said that there would be a separate Superintendent of Police for each district for night policing. He said that due to rotational night duty of policemen, night policing was getting ignored moreover policemen performing night duty were not getting adequate rest. He said that it has been decided to have total dominance of police on highways and streets to check the activities of anti social elements. He said that Punjab police was taking special steps to sensitize the force and take prompt steps in all cases of crime against women.  
           Expressing concern over total collapse of law and order situation in National Capital Delhi and increasing number of crime against women, Mr. Badal said that Punjab Police has taken special steps to empower the women. He said that surprisingly there was not a single recruitment of women in the police force and on his initiative over 3000 women were recruited in the force last year and he has given directions to step up the recruitment of women to take it up to 15% of total force. Mr. Badal informed that for the first time Women DSPs would be directly recruited in  the state and the case was being put up in the cabinet.
           Referring to incident in Ludhiana, Mr. Badal said that no body, at whatsoever position would be allowed to take law in his hand. He said that Punjab Police has already arrested one accused Amaninder Singh alias Aman and hunt was on to arrest other two accused including Maninder Pal Singh and Rishi Banda.
