Punjab approves amendments in marriage places regularization policy

 The Punjab Government has approved certain amendments in the Marriage Palace Regularisation Policy announced few days ago for regularization of existing Marriage Palaces and for setting up of new Marriage Palaces in the State of Punjab keeping in view the problems being faced by the owners of marriage palaces. 

         According to an official spokesman the last date for submission of applications for regularization was fixed as 20-12-2012 that has been now extended to 31st December 2012. He said that as per this policy, 50% of the total charges of regularization were to be paid at the time of approval that has been now reduced to 25%. The Marriage Palace Owners felt that the time for submission of applications is too short and the 1st installment of 50% charges is too high.  The Spokesman said that Marriage Palace Owners had brought this problem to the notice of  Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Punjab. The Spokesman said that keeping in view these hardships, the Punjab Government has amended the Marriage Palace policy to the extent that the last date for submission of applications has been extended to 31-12-2012 and the date for granting approval has been extended to 15-01-2013. He said that the 1st installment to be paid at the time of approval has been fixed as 25% of total charges instead of 50% as fixed earlier.

Another relaxation in the new policy was that the condition of minimum area for existing Marriage Palaces on the link roads has also been relaxed for the existing Marriage Palaces only. He said that besides this, a number of other amendments in building norms have been affected in the Marriage Palace Policy. He said that the state government has approved all these amendments keeping in view the problems being faced by the existing Marriage Palace Owners, public conveniences, security and safety of the public.
