Sikhs need to initiate campaign for their identity abroad: Chhina,

 Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) today condemned the killing of innocent Sikh devotees at Wisconsin Gurdwara in US. KCGC President Satyajit Singh Majithia and Honourary Secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina expressed shock and dismay over the Sunday incident and asserted the dire need to initiate a worldwide campaign on Sikh identity issue.
 ``It appears to be an incident of hate crime. We condemn the incident as the innocent devotees, holding prayers in the shrine were targeted’’, said Chhina adding that the Sikhs need to initiate a worldwide awareness campaign regarding their separate identity. ``After the 9/11, the Sikhs faced hate crime in US and other countries. They are often mistaken as Arabs or Muslims though they are separate culturally and religiously’’, said Chhina adding that they want that the campaign is immediately launched and the Khalsa College Society would actively participate in such a campaign and help to spread the awareness regarding Sikh identity through the preaching.
 They asked the Sikhs to stay calm but united and press upon the Union government of Dr.Manmohan Singh to strongly take up the matter with US President Barack Obama regarding the safety and security of Sikhs and their shrines in US. Khalsa College Principal Dr. Daljit Singh also said that the Sikhism teacher the principal of Universal Brotherhood and it was shocking that they were attacked while holding prayers at the shrine. He asked the US authorities to thoroughly investigate the `mischief' aimed to disturb peace and he also felt the need to strengthen the awareness campaign regarding the Sikh identity abroad
