A Proud Moment for Punjab School Education Department. The
education portal e-PunjabSchool, has been adorned with e-India award as
“Education initiatives in Schools” at National level. The award was presented
in eIndia Education summit at Hyderabad to Director General School Education
Punjab Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu by IT Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Poonia Laxami
& IT Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Sanjay Jaju. It was disclosed by an
official spokesman of Punjab Government.
An Official Spokesman
said that this ambitious project of e-PunjabSchool was developed by
partner companies CSM Technologies, Zensar Technologies, Sparc India to help
department realize the mission of school education for all by improving the
school education system by providing an expert tool for MIS, to assure
Accountability, Transparency and effective implementation of RTE.
The award
nomination went through a rigorous scrutiny and evaluation process and was
eventually given as Jury Choice Award to Punjab.
The
main objective of envisaging the Punjab e-school project is to monitor the delivery
of quality of education at school level as well as administering the internal
functions of schools.
This
covers all government schools about 19500. Currently the project has been
opened to 6250 middle, high and senior secondary schools having around 70,000
teachers and 14lakh students. In future department is planning to roll out this
project to rest 13000 primary schools.
This
will help the district and state officials in monitoring the student management
like child tracking, student enrollment, academics and inspection. Staff
management like transfer, promotion & increment. Infrastructure management
& deficiencies. The GIS links the MIS information with the map data where
spatial queries, distance calculations and other GIS functions are possible. This
helps in taking decision in a more proactive manner.
The
system has a feedback system that helps in collating complaints and suggestions
from the schools and other stakeholders and improving the system in a
collaborative manner.
