The Punjab
Government has been providing a subsidy of Rs. 500 per quintal on certified
wheat seeds to the farmers of the state.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman
of the Punjab
Government said that
subsidized seeds were available at the Sale Centers of Agriculture Department
including Punjab Agro, Cooperative Societies, IFFCO, KARIBCO and N.S.C. He said
that the variety of seeds, which would be purchased from private seed
producers, including P.B.W-550, P.B.W-502, and D.B.W-17 would be provided to
the farmers with a subsidized price of Rs. 1500 per quintal and Rs. 600 of per
bag containing 40kg, while the other varieties including P.B.W-621, P.B.W-509
would be provided at the cost of Rs. 1550 per quintal and Rs. 620 per bag of 40
kg.
