Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh
Badal today felicitated
the Punjabis living in country and abroad on the auspicious occasion of Parkash
Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
In his message on the eve of Gurpurab,
the Chief Minister said that Guru Nanak Dev ji was a great spiritual ambassador
who guided the humanity to attain salvation by spreading the cult of devotion
to God and the eternal message of oneness of God, love, compassion and
spirituality amongst the mankind. He said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji envisioned
a casteless society free from rituals and superstitions, thereby redeeming the
suffering humanity from the pangs of agony. Mr Badal said that Sri Guru Nanak
Dev ji motivated the humanity with new ideas, aims, aspirations and called upon
them to dispense with the maladies of hypocrisy, falsehood, pretensions and
caste-prejudices.
"Guru ji's teachings are still relevant
today especially in the present complex and materialistic society", said
Mr Badal.
The Chief Minister also appealed the
people to imbibe the spirit of service and humility as preached by the Great
Guru and strive hard for carving out a peaceful, prosperous and healthy society
by following the precious legacy of Guru Nanak Dev ji and celebrate this sacred
occasion with utmost devotion and dedication rising above the parochial
considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion.
The
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, extended his warm
greetings to the people of the State on the eve of Parkash Utsav.i.
Congratulating people on this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Sri
Guru Nanak Dev Ji showed us the path to spiritual salvation and his teachings
would always continue to inspire us to embrace equality, compassion and
humanism. He said that this day gives us an opportunity to deeply introspect
ourselves about Guru Ji's message of meditation and remembering God, honestly
earning through one's physical and mental effort while accepting God's gifts
and blessings and to share within society.
Mr. Badal said that Sri
Guru Nanak's profound message of leading an honest, truthful and virtuous life
would continue to guide and inspire humanity in times to come.
Revenue, Information and Public Relations Minister of Punjab Mr. Bikram
Singh Majithia also greeted the people on the eve of Parkash Purab of first Sikh Guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
In
a message, Mr Majithia said Guru ji gives the message of
humanity and brotherhood. He said that Guru Ji raised his voice against the
cruelty of Babar and awared the people against the cruelty and social
evils.
He
said that we should follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji for the
betterment of society.
