Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today felicitated
a student of Saint Francis School, Amritsar Master Sahil Dviwedi of bagging
Bronze Medal at National Level and student of Government Master Jagdeep Singh
Middle School Mandiala from District Amritsar of bagging award in a State Level
competition with state award, for their rare achievements under the INSPIRE
(Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) Award scheme.
Conferring the award on the student at a simple but impressive
function held here today at his official residence, the Chief Minister said
that quality education was the key element for ensuring the all round
development of the state due to which their government has been laying thrust
on imparting excellent education to the students of Punjab. He further said
that today when owing to the development of modern techniques of communication
almost the entire world has turned into a global village the state government
was fully sensitized about its responsibility to impart quality education to
the students so that they could meet the competition worldwide.
The Chief Minister further said that keeping in view the need to
impart quality and modern education especially science education to the
students their government has accorded top priority to education sector adding
that due to the path breaking initiatives taken by them for reforming the
Education system Punjab which earlier ranked 14th in the field
of education, now leads the country in this field.
On the occasion the Chief Minister was informed
that INSPIRE was a National Programme implemented by the Ministry of
Science & Technology, Government of India (GoI) for grooming the talent
amongst students to study science and pursue career with research. Mr Badal was
apprised that Master Sahil got the award under the scheme for children in the
age group of 10-15 covering all middle and secondary schools in the country for
his innovative project ‘Mobile Operated Wireless Switch’, which could operate
any electrical device connected to it just by receiving a call from the user’s
phone. The user could operate any device, from any distance, for any duration.
The Chief Minister was also informed that Jagdeep Singh gave innovative ideas
for disaster management of Nuclear power Plants.

Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Principal Secretary Science,
Technology and Environment Mr. Karan Avtar Singh, Director General School
Education Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu, Joint Principal Secretary to the Chief
Minister Mr. Sandeep Hans and Director General, Pushpa Gujral Science City Dr.
R. S. Khandpur.
