Aryans
Solar Fest organized by Aryans College of Engineering at Aryans Campus
situated at Village Nepra, Chandigarh- Patiala highway, Near Chandigarh
concluded here today. More than 2000 students and villagers of the area
participated in the festival and acquired practical knowledge about the
means and uses of solar energy. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans
College of Engineering inaugurated the fest. Er. Balkar Singh, Senior
Manager Punjab Energy Development Agencies (PEDA) were the guest of
honor for Aryans Solar Fest.
More
than 15 organization including Government agencies, private agencies
and individuals displayed their projects. Punjab Energy Development
Agencies (PEDA) was one of promoter of this event. Many products
including solar lights, Solar Pumps, Solar Invertors, Solar Lanterns and
Solar Charge controller etc were displayed.

Balkar Singh said that 1000 MW power generations through renewable
energy would be installed in Punjab in coming five years. He added that
till now more than 500 MW power generation through renewable energy took
place by the government as well as Punjab Energy Development Agencies
(PEDA) under which 132 MW is given to Micro hydel power, 46.5 MW is for
Biomass power, 316 MW is for Cogeneration, 9.325 MW is used in Solar
photovoltaic power and 1Mwatt is for Waste to Energy.
Top
companies of India including Alpex Export Pvt Ltd., Intersolar System,
Manik Solar Innovation, Radha Solar Energy Cell, Solar age India, Solar
Sales Society, Sudarshan Saur, Synergy solar etc participated in the
festival and display their products.
While
addressing the audience Dr Anshu Kataria said that the purpose of
festival was to make the students aware of the scope and use of solar
energy and renewable resources of energy.
He
added that as oil prices spike, people are looking for alternative
energy sources to save money. Solar energy is conversion of sunlight
into usable energy. Currently, solar energy is used to provide
electricity to homes, businesses, schools, universities and space
vehicles used by NASA. As traditional energy prices rise, solar energy
use is growing at a rate of 25 percent a year.
