CHANDIGARH, FEB 7
To foster the talent of students and encourage them in extra co-curricular
activities, the Punjab Government has decided to organize Annual Day in all the
Primary Schools of the state on February 20.
Disclosing this here today, Education Minister Punjab Mr. Sikandar Singh Maluka
said that different types of competitions would be organized in the primary
schools on this occasion. He directed the officers of the department to ensure
adequate participation of parents of the students, Panchayat members and other
dignitaries in the annual day celebrations.
Mr. Maluka also said that a state wide campaign to ensure ample enrollment of
children in government schools in Punjab for the next academic session would be
launched. He also emphasized the need to motivate the parents to admit their
wards in the government schools so that they could take maximum advantage of
government schemes launched in the field of education.
Laying more emphasis on the girl child
education, Mr. Maluka said that the parents need to be taught the importance of
girl education so that they may not be deprived of education. Mr. Maluka said
that under Right to Education Act-2009 every child has the right to education
and he must be enrolled in the school. For the enrollment of students, teachers
have to make sincere efforts for this purpose and make sure that each student
takes admission in the next class.
